If you have a school nearby you can go out into the middle of the athletic field and that will help (provided the lights aren&#039;t on).

The top of a building gets you above a lot of the street-level glow.

By the way, which kind of binocs did you wind up getting?

		<description>Light pollution is one of the biggest problems facing astronomers today.
You need to get out of the city, far from any big lighted areas (such as malls or sports arenas or parking lots or airports).
For me (living in Toronto) that means a couple of hours drive north to get away from the worst of the light from the city and all the smaller towns around.</description>
